What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Wendy Walker, a lifelong Floridian, a 50-year member of this community, having come here to FSU and graduated, and raised my girls here. I worked for 28 years as president of Leadership Florida. And now I'm retired from that job, but I am finding ways to become as involved as I can in this community to help bring people together in this community and to make it a place where people want to live work and play, as they say. What inspires me is the importance of the work. There's a lot to be done. And what I learned through Leadership Florida as much as any other place is that there are so many good people in this world, people who are desperate to make things better. And they don't all necessarily want to come at it the same way. There aren't black hats and white hats. There are lots of shades of gray. We've got to get close to people and understand what drives them and to realize that we're just not that different. We all want the same for our children. We all want people to succeed. We all want kids to grow up without violence and to get a good job. We all want that. And our approaches may be different, but you've just got to get out there and find others with whom you can work and get going on. I'm Wendy Walker, lifelong Floridian, recently retired, and proud and happy wife, mother, and grandmother. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
Wendy Walker - We All Want That
Lifelong Floridian, Wendy Walker, explains that she is inspired by the importance of the work still to be done. She is retired from Leadership Florida, after acting as president of the organization for 28 years. She is helping to find ways to bring people together in the community to make it a great place for people to live, work and play. She says that we must realize that we are just not that different, even though our approaches towards improvement may be different.
