What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Emeh Hud. I'm president of Golden Lighting. I was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. I went to college at UC Berkeley and then came back to help my father's business, Golden Lighting. And I've been working there for the past 16 years. Recently, I was elected to be the board chair at Doni Station. One of my greatest passions is business. I love everything about business. I view it like a sport. And I love playing the game. And I love the players. I love the coaches. I love the scientists behind it. What I see, though, is the way the games being played is changing. And there's a lot of disruption in the business world. But what's happening is it doesn't seem like there's anyone really teaching the new way to play the game. And I feel like there's this whole layer of education, software that needs an upgrade. I went to a conference in San Francisco, which talked about exponential technology and disruptive technologies. I was thinking that, well, what if you created a startup within existing businesses? So, entrepreneurism and internal disruption. In fact, existing businesses, I think, have a better chance at creating a startup. Because they already have an existing customer-based infrastructure. They're probably making a little bit of money and have some employees. Why wait for somebody to disrupt you? Why don't you be the disruptor? If we can apply some of those modern ideas to our own ideas, we'd really amplify our market. And I think that we have a lot of existing assets here that we can have draw upon. My name is Emeah and I'm president of Golden Lighting. You're listening to voices that inspire.
